Trattoria Sablone's

Trattoria Sablone's at 33 Smith Street in Marblehead, MA is run by the same family that ran the original Sablone's in East Boston. Sergio Maffeo who is the owner and head chef is married to Jessica, who is the daughter of the original Sablone family. Sergio and Jessica work with thier three daughters, Kimberly , Kristina and Alexa.
The meals we had this night were out of this world. We went thinking we would have a bowl of pasta but we had so much more. We started off with an antipasto and it was delicious. It had some roasted red peppers, some bruscetta and some provolone cheese and stuffed mushrooms and hot peppers. We then got a mushroom hors douvre which was sauted mushrooms in a reduced balsamic vineger sauce. Was so good I soaked a piece of bread in the bottom of the dish with the last sauce!!
Our main meal was something to be savored. Two of us had pappardelle with a mushroom sauce, and one had fusilli with broccoli rabe and one had Rigatone alla Kimberly which is rigatone with a tomato sauce made with vodka and peas. Each meal was wonderful and each plate was empty at the end of it. Yes, we did share a bit to taste what each other had.
We were then treated to some entertainment when the chef, Sergio Maffeo came out of the kitchen and sang to Andrea Borcelli! Great Friday Night in Marblehead.

Try it, you'll like ittttttttttttttttt
